World No. 1 Jannik Sinner has withdrawn from next week's China Open in Beijing, saying his right knee is not yet ready for competition.
- Sinner announced Friday he will not defend his China Open title at the ATP 500 event starting Wednesday in Beijing.
- The Italian has not played since defeating Alexander Zverev in the Wimbledon final in mid-July.
- He had previously withdrawn from the US Open because of the same right knee injury.
- "My knee is not there where I would like to be and I am not ready to compete yet," Sinner said in a video.
