Two Latvian men were arrested inside the perimeter of RAF Molesworth, a Cambridgeshire base used by US military and Nato intelligence operations.
- Latvian nationals aged 32 and 36 were arrested by military police early Thursday after a small breach was found in the base's perimeter fence.
- They were arrested on suspicion of trespass on a prohibited site, criminal damage, and entering a prohibited place for a purpose prejudicial to the UK under the National Security Act 2023.
- Counter-terror police are leading the investigation; Commander Helen Flanagan said there was nothing to suggest a connection to last week's incident at RAF Fairford.
- Police spotted an abandoned vehicle near RAF Molesworth at 22:00 BST on Wednesday, prompting a search that found a small gap in the fence.
- The men were initially held on suspicion of trespass and criminal damage before being rearrested on suspicion of entering a prohibited place to harm the UK.
- Investigators confirmed both men, the 32-year-old and 36-year-old Latvian nationals, reside in the United Kingdom.
