(opens the publisher’s site)A Ukrainian intelligence officer who confessed to killing the woman suspected of a bomb attack in Monaco has changed his story, blaming his co-defendant.
- On June 29, a bomb in Monaco targeted businessman Vadym Yermolayev, injuring him and two others; suspect Anastasiia Berezovska was later found dead in Ukraine.
- Ukrainian police arrested Vladyslav Reut, a GUR officer, and Vitalii Zhykovych, a former SBU officer, for Berezovska's murder.
- In a Kyiv court on July 9, Reut retracted his confession, claiming Zhykovych killed Berezovska and threatened his family.
- Both men were charged with premeditated murder and denied bail; Zhykovych's lawyer rejected Reut's account.
