WHO has warned that a critical funding gap threatens its health response in Yemen as needs rise with the escalating conflict.
- WHO raised its immediate funding requirement for Yemen from $9 million to $31 million, plus $700,000 for refugees in Djibouti, having received only $2.1 million so far.
- Yemen's health ministry recorded 959 deaths and 4,207 injuries across 10 governorates as of October 2, with about 198,000 people displaced.
- Cholera cases have tripled within three weeks, alongside over 22,000 suspected measles cases and 128 deaths this year.
- WHO representative Syed Jaffar Hussain said the situation is developing into a "complex emergency" with heavily depleted resources and gaps in trauma care along front lines.
