The Asian Football Confederation has endorsed Gianni Infantino for a fourth term as FIFA president at its extraordinary congress in Tokyo.
- Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa delivered the endorsement, saying, "We affirm our full commitment to supporting you and your leadership as you seek a new mandate as the FIFA president."
- No candidates have yet filed against Infantino ahead of the November 18 deadline for the March FIFA election.
- The endorsement reverses the AFC's position of two months ago, when it joined European and North American bodies in alleging a "fundamental breach of trust."
- Infantino, who apologized last week over a scrapped $4.2bn plan, said FIFA member funding would rise from $1m to $25m every four years.
