Ahmed Sherif's 26th-minute goal gave Zamalek a 1-0 win over Petrol Asyut in matchweek seven, lifting the club to third in the Egyptian Premier League.
- Ahmed Sherif scored the only goal in the 26th minute as Zamalek beat Petrol Asyut 1-0 at Borg El Arab Stadium on Tuesday, returning to winning ways after a loss to Al Ahly.
- The victory lifted Zamalek to 16 points in third place, level with Al Ahly and two behind leaders Pyramids, while Petrol Asyut stayed on five points in 16th.
- Coach Motamed Gamal said Omar Gaber played his current position because Mahmoud Gihad is injured, a role he said is not new to Gaber.
- Gamal explained that Mohamed Ismail started ahead of the recently returning Youssef "Frense" because the score stayed close and Ismail has more experience.
