Anthropic localizes Claude pricing for India, opens Bengaluru office

Anthropic has begun pricing its Claude AI subscriptions in Indian rupees and expanded its local presence to capture a market that accounts for 5.8% of global usage.

• Claude subscription prices now appear in Indian rupees on the official website and mobile apps, with Pro at 2,000 rupies (≈$21) monthly and Max at 11,999 rupies (≈$125) monthly.
• Anthropic has opened an office in Bengaluru and hired Irina Ghosh, former Microsoft India executive, to lead operations in the country.
• The company has formed partnerships with Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services to expand enterprise use of its AI in India.
• Rupee-based payment via India’s UPI system has not yet been activated; subscriptions still require credit cards or Apple/Google payment systems.
