Microsoft issues record 570 security patches, including fix for 25-year-old game exploit

Microsoft released its largest monthly security update, citing AI tools for discovering code flaws, and patched a remote takeover bug in Age of Empires II.
- Microsoft issued patches for 570 security vulnerabilities across Windows, Office, and other products on Tuesday, its highest monthly count.
- Two of the patched flaws were zero-days: one in Windows Server granting privilege escalation, and another in SharePoint that CISA warned was actively exploited by hackers.
- A vulnerability in the remastered Age of Empires II allowed attackers to take over a victim's computer by sending a malicious game invite, according to cybersecurity firm Rapid7.
- Windows head Pavan Davuluri said the higher volume of security updates is driven by AI helping defenders discover more issues in each release.
