Al Ahly plans January defensive reinforcement, denies Mido bid

Al Ahly is shaping its defensive reinforcement for the January window, weighing targets and denying rumors of specific negotiations.

• Medhat Shalaby said Al Ahly is moving to sign former defender Mohamed Abdel Moneim, currently playing abroad, with Omar Fayed of Serie A as an alternative.
• Al Ahly denied negotiations for Talaea El Geish's Mohamed Wael Mido, saying the scouting committee did not recommend him and a reported 40-million-EGP offer is unfounded.
• Al Ahly said its defensive strengthening depends on the status of defenders Ashraf Dar and Yasser Ibrahim, potentially adding one Egyptian and one foreign player.
• Al Ahly ruled out Ittihad Alexandria's Mostafa Ibrahim and ZED's Mohamed Hussein, citing its aim to lower the squad's average age.
