A fire broke out Monday aboard the French nuclear-powered aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle during maintenance at Toulon naval base, causing no injuries.
- The alarm sounded before 11:30 a.m. in a technical room; crews controlled the blaze at 12:35 and extinguished it fully at 13:50.
- The Mediterranean naval prefecture said the fire caused no injuries and did not affect the ship's nuclear installations.
- The navy said the likely cause was cutting work with a welding torch inside a technical facility.
- The carrier has been under technical maintenance since late August and is scheduled to return to service by early December.
