South Korean President Lee Jae-myung has announced the successful first test launch of a domestically developed hypersonic missile, days after the North announced a similar test.
- President Lee Jae-myung, who oversaw the launch, announced the successful test, saying the missile was developed with South Korea's own technologies.
- The test came days after North Korea announced a test of an artificial-intelligence-equipped intermediate-range ballistic missile last Saturday.
- Kim Yo-jong said the missile can alter its flight path at low altitude thanks to integrated artificial intelligence.
- Seoul said it and Washington were analyzing the launch as South Korea's National Security Council held an emergency meeting and coordinated with Japan.
