Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said Egypt's military effort is dedicated to defending Saudi territory and will not launch an attack on Yemen.
- Sisi, at the Egypt Forum 2026 session on national and citizen security, said Egyptian military efforts target the defense of Saudi Arabia's territory and borders, not an offensive against Yemen.
- He said Arab national security is indivisible, and that the stability of Gulf states concerns Egypt from a national security perspective.
- Sisi said Egypt must continue strengthening itself because risks are numerous and not limited to the Ethiopian dam.
- He stressed restoring stability in all Arab countries, including Sudan, Libya, and Somalia, as an extension of shared Arab national security.
- Sisi added that Egypt's military effort could extend to support another Arab state if its help were requested.
- Egypt's House of Representatives will resume emergency sessions Monday to debate a request to authorize Sisi to take measures defending Saudi Arabia.
- Mostaqbal Watan, Hamaet Al-Watan, and the Wafd Party back the mandate, while the Egyptian Democratic Party rejects it.
