• The new name combines the first name of his late uncle Yonatan (Yoni) Netanyahu with Hon, his maternal grandfather's surname.
• Avner Netanyahu, another son, said last year he used the pseudonym Avi Segal for security reasons during his studies in London.
• Benjamin Netanyahu stated he changed his name to Benjamin Ben Nitai in the 1970s to make pronunciation easier for Americans.
