Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and French counterpart Jean-Noël Barrot clashed publicly on X over the anniversary of Mahsa Amini's death.
- Jean-Noël Barrot posted on X marking the fourth anniversary of Mahsa Amini's death, accusing Iran of repression and saying she was killed for seeking freedom.
- Abbas Araghchi responded on X, telling Barrot to stop his "crocodile tears" and citing a February 28 US airstrike that hit Minab's Shajara Tayyiba elementary school.
- Iranian media reported 168 children and 14 teachers killed in that strike, while US forces said they were targeting an adjacent Revolutionary Guard facility.
- Araghchi also accused France of killing 1.5 million Algerians during the War of Independence, saying Paris recorded less than a tenth of them and refuses to apologize.
