Egypt's prime minister convened an expanded cabinet meeting Thursday to finalize the national economic transformation program before presenting it to President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
- Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly chaired the meeting on the program's preparation, joined by ministers from more than a dozen portfolios including finance, industry, and planning.
- Officials reviewed economic indicators showing growth rose to 5.1% in fiscal year 2025/2026 from 4.4%, and August inflation fell to 12.7% from 13%.
- Planning Minister Ahmed Rostom said 11 ministerial and over 34 technical meetings preceded the program's first draft, now undergoing data verification with ministries.
- Madbouly said the program targets five priority sectors — industry, agriculture and food manufacturing, tourism, ICT, and energy security — and will launch officially after presidential review.
