A Malta-flagged tanker carrying 40,000 tons of Russian diesel is bound for New York, the first US shipment of Russian fuel since the 2022 ban.
- Tracking data showed the tanker off Helsinki on Friday, carrying about 300,000 barrels loaded from Russia's Primorsk terminal and due to arrive November 7.
- Trump announced on October 9 a US–Russia agreement to supply diesel to American and global markets, easing sanctions and ending Russia's export ban.
- Trump said Russia would export 300,000 tons immediately, 500,000 tons in November, then one million tons afterward.
- Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said Wednesday the first shipment would depart the following day and that further shipments would follow.
