Egypt's Drug Authority denied rumors of January drug price increases, saying it has issued none since adopting a new pricing mechanism in September.
- The authority adopted in late September a new pricing mechanism tying price changes to exchange rates (60 percent), inflation (30 percent) and interest rates (10 percent).
- Assistant head Yasser Rejai said the authority has issued no price-increase notifications and that any adjustment is studied product by product.
- The authority called rumors of increases taking effect in January 2027 false and said it will take legal steps against those spreading them.
