Former players call on Liverpool to drop goalless Wirtz after City defeat

Florian Wirtz, Liverpool's £116 million signing, faces calls to be dropped after six goalless Premier League games following the club's 3-0 loss to Manchester City.

• Andy Townsend advised Liverpool to exclude Wirtz from the starting lineup, saying limited appearances could help him recover his confidence.
• Jamie Carragher said Wirtz should not be in the starting lineup and that the midfielder needs to leave the club.
• Wirtz was substituted after 66 minutes in Sunday's 3-0 loss, having lost possession 16 times in the first half.
• Wirtz has recorded seven goals and eleven assists in 56 matches since joining, with no league goals this season.
