AI-generated 'human pyramid' video debunked as Egyptians celebrated World Cup return

Al Jazeera's fact-check unit has determined that viral clips showing a massive human pyramid in Egyptian streets were created by artificial intelligence.

• Egyptian fans celebrated the national team's return from the 2026 World Cup with events at Cairo Stadium and in New Alamein.
• Viral clips on social media claimed to show a towering human pyramid with a person waving the Egyptian flag.
• Al Jazeera's open-source unit determined the clips were AI-generated after visual and technical analysis, with 99.8% probability from Hive AI.
• The first prominent publisher of the clips was the satirical page "Egyptoon," but they later spread beyond its original context.
