Agent reveals why Nico Williams spurned Barcelona's offer

Agent Felix Tainta says Nico Williams abandoned Barcelona talks over missing playing-time guarantees, renewing with Athletic Bilbao through 2035.

• Tainta, on the Spanish podcast Los Fulanos, said the absence of playing-time guarantees collapsed the 2025 negotiations.
• He said the Athletic winger wanted to leave but would not risk his career before the 2026 World Cup.
• Tainta said Arsenal, Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain also pursued Williams.
• Athletic Bilbao announced on 4 July 2025 an eight-year contract extension running until 30 June 2035.
