Two Arab referees named to 2026 World Cup semifinal officiating pool

FIFA's Referees Committee announced the shortlist for the semifinals and final, featuring Jordan's Adham Makhadmeh and Morocco's Jalal Jaid.

• Salvadorean Ivan Barton will officiate the France vs Spain semifinal, while American Ismail Elfath will handle England vs Argentina.
• FIFA policy excludes referees whose nations remain in the tournament, leading to French referee François Letexier's removal after Egypt's loss to Argentina.
• The shortlist includes 13 referees from six confederations, with further assignments for the final and third-place match pending.
