Cuba's national power grid collapsed on Tuesday, plunging the island into its third nationwide blackout in 10 days and leaving about 10 million people without electricity.
- The blackout began at 11am local time when the entire grid went offline, according to state-run electricity company UNE.
- Cuba's Ministry of Energy and Mines confirmed a "total disconnection of the electrical system."
- US President Donald Trump imposed an oil blockade in January after removing Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, cutting off Cuba's main fuel supply.
- US Ambassador Michael Waltz said at the UN that Cuba's leaders were responsible for the shortages and urged them to "turn the lights back on for your people."
