US report says Sudanese army air attacks in Darfur amount to war crimes

A US-based human rights project released a report documenting aerial attacks by the Sudanese army targeting civilians in Darfur.

• The Reckoning Project documented 17 air attacks between October 2024 and April 2026 that killed and wounded hundreds.
• The report described strikes on markets, hospitals, and social gatherings, including a bombing in Nyala that killed at least 22 civilians.
• The project said the scale and pattern of the attacks indicate war crimes and crimes against humanity.
• The report called for an independent international investigation and urged the International Criminal Court to act.
