Toxic chemical leak at Belgian port injures over 120

A hydrofluoric acid leak from a container ship in the Port of Antwerp has injured at least 127 people, with 100 taken to hospital.

• The leak occurred Tuesday evening on an MSC container vessel flying a Liberian flag, which had arrived from Britain the previous day.
• Local authorities reported 127 people injured, 100 hospitalised, and 28 kept for further treatment due to more severe symptoms.
• The municipality of Beveren said the leak was under control by Wednesday morning, and the port authority suspended navigation near the Dorgant dock.
• The port authority stated that specialised teams are preparing to remove the container by loading a lime-filled containment tub onto the ship.
