A medical team at Cairo University's Qasr El-Eini hospital removed a metal nail that pierced a 34-year-old patient's skull and lodged near the brain's main arteries.
- The nail was extracted during surgery lasting more than four hours, preserving brain tissue with no bleeding or complications.
- The patient was transferred to intensive care after the operation for continued treatment.
- Hossam Salah, dean of the faculty of medicine, said the injury required the highest degree of surgical precision because of the nail's proximity to the brain's arteries.
