Iran extends British man's prison sentence for contacting media, family says

A British man serving a 10-year sentence in Iran on espionage charges has had two more years added to his term, according to family members.

• Craig Foreman's family said he was brought before a judge without a lawyer or translator and informed of the additional sentence.
• Foreman and his wife Lindsay, also sentenced to 10 years, have been on hunger strike since May, their family stated.
• UN special rapporteurs called on Iran to release the couple, citing grave irregularities in the proceedings.
• The UK has appointed former minister Alistair Burt as the first envoy for British nationals detained abroad.
