Egypt's education and finance ministers have announced presidential mandates from Egypt Forum 2026, including teacher salary increases and school reforms.
- Education Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif and Finance Minister Ahmed Kojak held a press conference in the New Administrative Capital to detail the Egypt Forum 2026 education mandates.
- Kojak said teacher salaries will rise by 5,000–6,000 Egyptian pounds within two years, targeting a minimum income of 15,000 pounds.
- The mandates aim to expand Egyptian-Japanese schools from 103 to 500 within three years and develop 600 technical schools with the private sector.
- The plan sets ending the afternoon-session system in primary schools by 2027, preparatory by 2028, and secondary by 2029.
- Finance Minister Kojak said the ministry is ready to form a committee to resolve delayed teacher incentive payments.
- The increases will be implemented in two phases, in July 2027 and July 2028, reaching the 15,000-pound minimum.
- Kojak said the raises cover over one million teachers, including Al-Azhar staff and all education-sector workers.
- Abdel Latif announced the ministry will begin building 800 new primary schools next year, placed adjacent to schools on the double-shift system to end it.
- Abdel Latif said committees were formed to prevent delays in hourly teachers' monthly salary payments, citing Kojak's assurances about regular disbursement.
