Egypt's archaeological mission at Tell el-Yahudiya in Qalyubia Governorate has uncovered rock-cut tombs of multiple architectural styles, alongside remains of a Roman camp in the surface layers.
- The Egyptian mission working at Tell el-Yahudiya discovered rock-cut tombs of several architectural styles, along with remnants of a Roman camp in the surface layers above them.
- Hisham El-Leithy, secretary-general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, said archaeological evidence dates the tombs to the late New Kingdom, with use continuing into the Late Period.
- Ayman Ashmawy, advisor to the council, said the tombs follow two types: a stair entrance leading to a hall with burial niches, or a rectangular shaft leading to two burial chambers.
- Anwar Abdel-Samad, head of the mission, said artifacts found accompanying the tombs helped determine their dating and periods of use.
