The FTC and seven states asked a federal judge on Tuesday to hold Martin Shkreli in contempt for violating his lifetime ban on pharmaceutical industry activity.
- FTC attorneys and attorneys general from New York, California, Illinois, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia filed the motion seeking fines and possible incarceration.
- Authorities allege Shkreli traded stocks in at least 60 pharmaceutical companies and shorted biotech firm Cassava Sciences in livestreams on YouTube, X, and Reddit.
- FTC competition bureau director Daniel Guarnera said the filing "should serve as notice that the FTC will not hesitate to enforce violations of court orders."
