US Treasury imposes new sanctions on Iran-linked shipping network

The US Treasury Department has announced sanctions targeting a network involved in illicit shipping and Iranian oil exports.

• The Treasury imposed sanctions on over 50 individuals, entities, and vessels linked to a network led by Mohammad Hossein Shankhani.
• Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the network is one of the most profitable engines for the Iranian regime, which relies on deception.
• The sanctions build on previous designations in April 2026 and July 2025, bringing the total number of sanctioned targets associated with the network to over 200.
• The measures were taken under Executive Order 13902 and in line with the National Security Presidential Memorandum-2, the Treasury said.
