- The federation said its board decided not to continue with Montella, ending his tenure after nearly three years.
- The dismissal followed defeats to Italy twice, France, and Belgium in the Nations League.
- Montella, who took charge in September 2023, led Turkey to the Euro 2024 quarterfinals and qualified the team for the 2026 World Cup.
- Italian media reported that former Turkey midfielder Arda Turan is the leading candidate to succeed him.
- The federation gave no reasons for Montella's dismissal and did not name a successor, according to Reuters.
- Turkey were eliminated from the 2026 World Cup group stage and sit bottom of their Nations League group with no points.
