Sisi ratifies amendment changing Criminal Procedure Code enforcement date

President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has ratified Law No. 160 of 2026 amending the Criminal Procedure Code's enforcement date.

• Sisi ratified Law No. 160 of 2026, amending Law No. 174 of 2025 which issued the Criminal Procedure Code.
• The amendment replaces the enforcement date "October 1, 2027" with "October 1 following the date of its publication" in Article Six.
• The law was published in the Official Gazette on Thursday and takes effect the day after publication.
