- Yamal, 19, became the first player in the award's history to win it three consecutive times, having taken it in 2024 and 2025.
- Yamal said he wished club teammate Pau Cubarsí, runner-up, had won, stating Cubarsí truly deserved the award.
- Yamal contributed 24 goals in all competitions this season, helping Spain win the 2026 World Cup and Barcelona claim La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup.
