Zamalek confirms El-Zanaty talks for sporting director role, denies salary demand

Zamalek officials confirmed negotiations with Hossam El-Zanaty for the sporting director post are progressing well, denying reports he demanded a 12-million-pound salary.

• A Zamalek club source said talks with El-Zanaty to succeed John Edwards as sporting director are proceeding in the right direction.
• The source denied reports that El-Zanaty demanded 12 million Egyptian pounds per season, saying financial matters will not block an agreement.
• Media director Maher Gharib confirmed El-Zanaty is the sole candidate, stating both sides agreed on football-sector files and the announcement awaits administrative matters.
• El-Zanaty previously served as sporting director at El Gouna and deputy sporting director at Danish club Nordsjaelland.
