Royal Mail announced plans to eliminate 2,500 head office and support roles by the end of 2027.
- Royal Mail said the cuts, about 2% of its 131,000-strong workforce, will exclude frontline posties and drivers.
- Royal Mail said the reductions will come through voluntary redundancies and natural attrition, with no compulsory layoffs.
- Royal Mail said letter volumes have fallen more than 70% since their mid-2000s peak.
- Chief executive Alistair Cochrane said the changes remove duplication and allow further investment in customer service.
