Three people, including a child, have died after an overcrowded migrant boat got into difficulty in the English Channel off northern France, authorities said.
- A 10-year-old child and two 30-year-old women died after an inflatable dinghy carrying 105 people ran into difficulty off Wissant, the French Maritime Prefecture said.
- The prefecture said the vessel, which departed Blériot Plage beach in Calais on Monday morning, issued a distress call and did not sink.
- The deaths bring this year's Channel crossing fatalities to at least 22, French police told AFP.
- The rescue ship Mink docked at Calais and began disembarking survivors, with some taken ashore on stretchers or wheelchairs.
