Kathryn Ruemmler, former White House counsel under Barack Obama, will testify Wednesday before a House committee about her relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.
- Ruemmler announced in February she would resign as chief legal officer of Goldman Sachs effective June 30.
- Emails from 2014 to 2019 showed Ruemmler accepted luxury gifts from Epstein, addressed him as “Uncle Jeffrey,” and advised him on responding to questions about his sex crimes.
- Ruemmler said in a June interview that Epstein used her to legitimize his standing and that she deeply regrets the connection.
- Two Democratic lawmakers sent a letter to Goldman Sachs in June questioning Ruemmler’s continued advisory role after her resignation.
