Kyriakos Mitsotakis has called on Andy Burnham to find the "political will" to return the Parthenon sculptures to Greece for good.
- Mitsotakis wrote in the Guardian that Greece cannot accept any arrangement recognizing British Museum ownership or "borrow" parts of its own monument.
- He rejected British Museum director Nicholas Cullinan's suggestion that the Bayeux Tapestry loan could serve as a template for a deal.
- Mitsotakis urged Burnham to follow his 2023 stance that the marbles should be returned with "no strings attached."
- Burnham recently said the matter rests legally with the British Museum, which stated its position is unchanged.
