The European Union removed Alisher Usmanov and Mikhail Fridman from its Russia sanctions list while extending measures against nearly 3,000 others for three years.
- The EU delisted Usmanov and Fridman as part of a compromise renewing sanctions on roughly 2,600 to 3,000 individuals and entities for 36 months.
- Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said "no name on the sanctions list is there by accident," and Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha called the decision "shameful and unjustifiable."
- Sybiha urged EU member states to impose national sanctions on the two individuals, and Latvia said it would do so.
- Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov welcomed the delistings, calling the EU's sanctions illegal.
