Pjanic reveals Allegri's trick to deny Ronaldo a free kick

Miralem Pjanic has revealed that former Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri orchestrated Cristiano Ronaldo's temporary removal from the pitch so Pjanic could take a free kick in a 2019 match.

• Pjanic told La Gazzetta dello Sport that Allegri, seeing Ronaldo clutching his knee after a foul by Napoli keeper Alex Meret, called the physios to remove him from the pitch.
• Pjanic scored the free kick in Juventus's 2-1 win over Napoli in March 2019; Ronaldo returned to the pitch afterwards.
• Thanking Allegri, Pjanic said the ruse was "the only way to get the ball back."
