Zakho signs Iraqi league's record $4.2 million transfer

Zakho FC has signed Uzbek striker Shirzod Temirov for approximately $4.2 million, the highest transfer fee in Iraqi football league history, the club president announced on Wednesday.

• Club president Jiya Amin Osman said the three-season contract with Temirov is worth 5.5 billion Iraqi dinars (about $4.2 million), the largest deal for a player in Iraqi league history.
• Temirov, 27, transferred from Erbil FC to join Zakho as the club's attacking force for the next three seasons.
• Temirov scored 28 goals last season, winning the Iraqi league's top scorer title, eight goals ahead of second-placed striker Alaeddine al-Dali.
• Italy coach Fabio Cannavaro excluded Temirov from the Uzbekistan national team roster for the 2026 World Cup currently held in North America.
