The FCA has opened a review of its handling of whistleblower Simon Andriesz, who flagged alleged Howard Lutnick–Jeffrey Epstein ties before his death.
- The FCA appointed new board member Lea Paterson to review how staff interacted with Andriesz following his death late last month.
- BGC sacked Andriesz in 2017 after he raised accounting concerns, and he told the FBI in 2020-21 that Lutnick had undeclared business ties with Epstein.
- The FCA apologised after giving Andriesz misleading information, wrongly telling him he did not qualify for whistleblower protection.
- Labour MP John McDonnell said the review should go to an independent organisation and the APPG may launch its own call for evidence.
