Paramount Skydance has settled with 12 US states that sued to block its $110bn merger with Warner Bros Discovery, the last major obstacle to closing the deal.
- California and 11 other states agreed to withdraw their antitrust suit after Paramount committed to independent editorial boards overseeing CNN and CBS.
- The settlement includes a $30m penalty if the merged company fails to release at least 30 films per year in theaters.
- California Attorney General Rob Bonta said production commitments guarantee "$300m to $1.5bn more, at minimum, for film and TV production" in the US.
- David Ellison said the merger now has "complete clearance," with the Writers Guild of America also settling its challenge over the weekend.
