Al-Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed el-Tayeb received a Sudanese Sufi delegation on Monday, reaffirming the institution's educational and advocacy support for Sudan.
- El-Tayeb received a delegation of Sudanese Sufi sheikhs and civil administration leaders at Al-Azhar headquarters on Monday.
- El-Tayeb told the delegation to preserve Sudan's unity, open dialogue channels, and favor peaceful solutions to spare civilian lives.
- El-Tayeb said more than 10,000 Sudanese students study at Al-Azhar, most on full scholarships, and that the institution grants 220 annually.
- The delegation backed El-Tayeb's mediation initiative to halt Arab-region wars, invited him to Sudan, and requested more scholarships and Azhar institutes there.
