Alexandria court sentences worker to life for sexual assault and robbery

An Egyptian appeals court has sentenced a worker to life imprisonment for sexually assaulting a woman and robbing her inside her Dekheila apartment.

• The Alexandria Criminal Appeals Court, chaired by Judge Ahmed Abdel Fattah, sentenced the defendant to life imprisonment and ordered him to pay court costs.
• The court heard that the defendant hid behind the victim's bedroom door holding a knife, after her dog's barking woke her at night.
• The defendant sexually assaulted the 24-year-old victim by force before stealing her gold ring, mobile phone and cash and fleeing.
