October 23, 2026 at 10:28 PM
The Milwaukee Brewers host the Tampa Bay Rays in Friday's World Series opener, with both No. 1 seeds chasing their first franchise title.
- Both teams entered as No. 1 seeds, with the Brewers posting the best record in Major League Baseball at 103 wins and the Rays topping the American League.
- Neither franchise has won a World Series; the Brewers have not reached the Fall Classic since 1982, and the Rays lost in 2008 and 2020.
- Milwaukee swept the two-time defending champion Dodgers in the NLCS, while Tampa Bay beat the Guardians in the ALCS.
- Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski, a likely Cy Young winner, hit 104.8 mph this postseason; Rays' Chandler Simpson led the AL with 46 steals without an MLB home run.
