Mody Shelata's Egypt call-up undecided after Al Ahly scoring display

A national team source said Egypt's coaching staff has not decided whether to call up El Qanah's Mody Shelata for the November camp.

• Shelata scored as El Qanah drew 3-3 with Al Ahly on Wednesday at Cairo Stadium in the league's seventh round.
• A national team source said Hossam Hassan's technical staff has not finalized the squad and continues monitoring all league players.
• The source said selection requires consistent form over multiple matches rather than a standout display in a single game.
• Egypt will face Malawi on November 13 and 17 in African Cup of Nations 2027 qualifiers.
• Shelata said his side had nothing to lose against a big club like Al Ahly and dismissed transfer talk, noting four years left on his contract.
• El Qanah coach Abdul Nasser Mohamed said his plan pressed Al Ahly's defense, marked key players, and freed Shelata from defensive duties.
• Shelata said he was saddened his team fell short of victory and called speculation about moving to Al Ahly or Zamalek premature.
