Borussia Dortmund has launched a voluntary "fan mode" in its official app that rewards supporters with prizes for keeping their phones locked during matches.
- The optional "fan mode" debuts Saturday when Dortmund hosts Eintracht Frankfurt at Signal Iduna Park, which holds more than 81,000 people.
- Fans earn points for each minute the screen stays locked and lose points every time they unlock the phone, with halftime excluded.
- High-scoring fans can win signed jerseys and gift cards for the club's official store, and participation in the scheme is voluntary.
- Hertha Berlin said this month it is banning commercially produced and monetised video productions from its matches.
