The world's leading tennis players have ended their 18-month public campaign for a larger share of grand slam revenues after the four major tournaments agreed to form a player advisory council.
- The players announced the truce in a statement after the US Open final, saying the formal council means the public phase of their campaign comes to a close.
- The four grand slams announced the Grand Slam Player Advisory Council last month, allowing players to negotiate directly with tournament organisers on an ongoing basis.
- The players said prize money across the tournaments grew to $415.6m, with over $30m estimated as incremental gains, and the US Tennis Association added a $2m welfare contribution.
- The players said they reserve the right to restart the campaign should the council fail to deliver, and will make no further public comment as a unified group.
