Cairo court sentences pharmacist to 3 years for drug trafficking

The Cairo Criminal Court has sentenced a pharmacist to three years of hard labor and a fine of 50,000 Egyptian pounds for possessing and trafficking controlled substances.

• Authorities arrested the 37-year-old pharmacist after a sting operation in which he was observed handing over drug packages to a client in Nasr City.
• Police seized 67 pharmaceutical boxes containing hundreds of ampoules of pethidine and nalbuphine from his car and person.
• The defendant admitted to possessing the drugs for the purpose of trafficking and stated the cash found was proceeds from illegal sales.
